The nations involved in the The Treaty of Versailles had competing national interests from the outcome of World War I. These competing national interests dictated how each nation approached the Paris Peace talks, and ultimately the outcome of the Treaty. Their national interests would also influence the start of World War II, just 20 years later.

In this assignment, you will review the national interests of the major nations involved in the peace talks, and you will take a position on a variety of statements. Review content pages 3.6.5 (Parts 1 and 2) and your Notebook Organizers/additional notes to help you complete this assignment.

Disagree Italy was not satisfied with the Treaty of Versailles because the country had been promised Austria-Hungary territories in exchange for changing sides and declaring war on Germany in 1915. However, this secret Treaty of London was not upheld and the Italian Prime Minister was denied much of the land and reparations he requested. Most Italians believed that their country had been treated badly at Versailles. The country was heavily in debt and there was large unemployment after the war. Italian resentment of Britain, France, and the United States after the Treaty of Versailles helped to increase Italian ultranationalism.

Each paragraph response will be marked out of 5 using the Short Answer Paragraph rubric.
