For this activity, you are going to create your own logo to represent Canada.
You can use a website to create your logo, or you can draw your logo on paper.
When creating a logo, keep these points in mind:
Refer to pages 36 to 39 in Literacy in Action 5B.
Here are some examples of logos for you to look at to get some ideas. Notice that these logos are very simple, yet they catch the eye and are memorable.
Before you save your logo to your Documents folder, go through the Canada Logo Checklist to make sure you haven't forgotten any parts of the activity.

When creating a logo, keep these points in mind:

- Your logo should include an animal, plant, or item to represent Canada.
- It should catch the viewer's eye and be something they will remember.
- It should be unique.
- It should be simple, but have a meaning related to Canada.
- It should have a clear message.
- Cheerful and exciting colours are red, orange, and yellow.
- Serious colours are grey and black.
- Calm colours are blue and green.
- Triangles are strong shapes.
- Circles represent unity.
- A diagonal line shows action.
- A horizontal line suggests peace.
- A vertical line suggests strength and power.

More helpful hints for creating your logo:
After you create your logo, write a paragraph about what your means, why you used the colours, shapes, and lines you did, and how it represents Canada.
- Sketch the logo before you start to create it.
- Choose one main theme for your logo. Don't try to cram too many things into your logo or it will look too cluttered.
- Don't use too many colours in your logo or it will be too hard on the eyes.
- Use pictures or images that people will recognize.
- Make sure the images are relevant (make sense) to Canada.
- Be creative, and have fun!

Save
How to save files for submission:
- Scan the documents to your computer.
- Select your Documents folder as the location to Save In.
- Name the documents. You will always name your documents in a similar way.
- Use the first letter of your first name, followed by your last name, then an underscore (_), then the name of the file.
- For the file name Assignment 6-2 Logo. For example, if my name is John Smith, I would name my file jsmithla5_6-2-logo.
- Click Save. Your worksheets are in your Documents folder.
Submit your file to the teacher:

Submit your completed Assignment 6-2 Logo and your Completed Logo (if you completed it in an online program) to your teacher.
- Click on the Add Submission button to upload your documents.
