2.8 Character Life Path

Step 1:  Before you begin, examine the rubric to see how your assignment will be assessed.

Step 2:  Read Simon’s example of Option 1, or Lola’s example of Option 2.  Examine the rubric included for each example so you can see how they were assessed. 

NOTE:  Simon and Lola completed their assignments using characters from the short story “Garson,” by Wayson Choy.  You must choose a character from your novel.

Step 3:  Because you are required to incorporate a symbol into your assignment, review the Symbol and Irony Tutorial you studied earlier in the course.

Step 4:  Choose whether you would like to complete Option 1 or 2 for this assignment:

• Option 1:  a four or five or paragraph letter from a character
• Option 2:  a flow chart and explanatory paragraph in the character’s voice

Step 5:  Choose a character from your novel who has made an important choice that has impacted his or her life.

Step 6:  Complete your assignment, carefully following the instructions for the option you chose.

Step 7:  Save your assignment in the following way:  Your Full Name 2.8 Character Life Path.  If you chose Option 2, don’t forget to include your explanatory paragraph.

Step 8:  Submit your assignment for assessment in the space provided.
