4.8 Film Essay

Step 1:  Before you begin, examine the rubric to see how you will be assessed on this assignment.

Step 2:  Read Lola’s 4.8 Film Essay to see an example of this assignment, and examine her teacher’s comments to see how she was assessed.  You’ll notice that this draft of Lola’s essay is quite a bit different from her previous draft.  She made changes based on her teacher’s feedback.  Remember that she was told to resubmit her work.

Step 3:  Read the feedback you received from your teacher on your 4.7 Film Essay Plan.

Step 4:  Write your 4.8 Film Essay.

Step 5:  Proofread your essay before you submit it.

• Read the essay aloud to check for sentence fluency.   
• Are all sentences worded clearly?  
• Do you have a variety of sentence lengths and sentence beginnings?
• Do you avoid sentence fragments, comma splices, and run-ons?
  
  
• Run the Spell Checker on your word processor to find spelling errors.
  
  
• Check the essay for punctuation and capitalization errors as well as any spelling errors the Spell Checker didn’t catch.
  
  

Revision Tip!

Try reading your essay backwards, starting with the last sentence first, then the second last sentence, going all the way back to the first sentence.  You’ll be surprised at the number of easy corrections you find.
