Creating Your Shape Poem
When you have enough descriptive words, complete your poem forming the shape that is important to your message.
- Write your poem using lines and phrases to join words in your Five Senses chart.
- Decide on the shape that your poem will be formed in.
- If you are writing about an elephant, sketch an elephant and arrange the words either as the outline of an elephant or in block form inside the elephant.

- Consider what you learned about layout – the way the words and pictures are placed on the page. Have fun, and be creative!
- Review the checklist and the rubric at the bottom of this page to ensure you fulfilled all requirements for this assignment.

How to save a file:
- Have the file open and select Save As from the File menu.
- Name your Shape Poetry file in this format: jsmith_shapepoetry and save the file to your Documents folder.
Throughout the unit, you have been learning and practicing new concepts and presentation formats.
Now it's time to demonstrate your understanding of that information by submitting this assignment for a mark.
- Submit your Shape Poetry worksheet to your teacher for marking.
- Click Add Submission to upload your document.
