Planning for Nutrition
Whether you are a professional or amateur athlete, the food you eat influences how well you perform. Food is fuel for your body, and eating the right foods and the right amounts at the appropriate time is key. Be sure to eat wholesome, healthy foods and take the time to plan your meals and snacks.
The athlete can make healthy choices, and in today's society with many choices available marketed towards athletes and healthy eating, choosing can be difficult. Section 3 considered what to eat before, during, and after competition. Section 4 considers serving sizes, food safety, nutrition away from home, and various factors that influence the eating patterns of athletes. Interpretation of nutritional information, evaluation of advertising, as well as the roles of parents and coaches in athlete nutrition are important topics in this section.
