Unit 3 Summary
Unit 3 Summary
In Unit 3, you explored the following questions:
- How does Canada ensure the rights and freedoms of all Canadians?
- How are the collective rights of Canadians protected?
- How does Canadian immigration policy affect my Canada?
As you worked through this unit, you continued to explore the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and the concepts of collective identity and collective rights. You were introduced to the collective rights of Aboriginal peoples, Francophones, and Anglophones because of their roles in the founding of our nation and throughout the history that has followed.
From the time that Canada was founded, people have been immigrating here to begin new lives. This constant influx of people has both benefitted and challenged Canada. The Canadian federal and provincial governments have established immigration
policies to respond to the challenges that Canada has faced. Immigration policies continue to evolve and change as Canada addresses emerging issues.
Now, demonstrate your understanding by completing the Unit 3 Quiz.
Before proceeding to Unit 4, you are required to write a midterm exam that covers material from Units 1, 2, and 3.
In Unit 4, you will examine the economic issues that Canada faces, and you will begin to understand how economic decision-making in Canada and in the United States impacts quality of life, citizenship, and identity.
