Unit 6
What Are Our Connections to the Past?
Activity

Connecting to Your Past
In this activity, you will have the chance to think about and share an object from the past.
Do you have a family treasure that tells a story? Is there an object in your home that you have always loved, or maybe it is something so familiar you have never really thought about it before.
Talk to your family about what this treasure could be.
When you have chosen it, start to look at it with a historian's eye.
Where did it come from? And how can you tell others about it and its story?
- If it's an object you know a lot about, begin answering the bullet points on the document Assignment 6-1.
- If it's an object you need to learn about, interview someone in your family about it, using the bullet points on the document Assignment 6-1. Then, write your paragraph. You may refer to the hamburger paragraph model on the previous page as you write.
