Look on page 128 of Literacy in Action 4B. You see a big picture under the title that should give you some clues as to what kind of park it is. There is a map in the bottom left side. You find two sections on this page. The first is A Water Park.
Think about the questions as you read this section:
- What makes the park different from other parks?
- Have you ever been or seen anything like this?
The next section is called Location. Think about these questions as you read this section:
- Where is the park located?
- What other places is it close to?
-
How do visitors get around this park?
Look on page 129 of Literacy in Action.
There you see another couple of pictures. One shows an island and the other shows a woman diver. Read the top section Nature and think about these questions:
- What can people explore in this park?
- Why is this a great place to enjoy nature?
-
What wildlife might I find there?
The last section is called Origin.
Think about these questions as you read:
- When did it become a marine park?
- Why is it an important marine park?
-
Why did the author write this report?
Use answers to these questions to guide your responses to help you summarize each section.
The organizer is made of four parts:
- Location: type at least two facts you learned in this section in this part of the organizer.
- Nature: type at least two facts you learned in this section in this part of the organizer.
- Origin: type at least two facts you learned in this section in this part of the organizer.
- Summary: type two or three sentences of the most important details you found out about the Fathom Five National Marine Park in this section of the organizer.
