3.1 Decode Assignment: Problem Solving
Assignment Option 1
You will read a short story as well as choosing a text or experience of your
own to use as a resource in this assignment. Two graphic organizers are provided to help you explore and critically think about the conflict you discover in each of the two texts (the short story and your own experience or chosen text). You will write a comparison paragraph that compares and contrasts the two main conflicts found in each text, as well as discuss the critical thinking strategies applicable in each situation.

This assignment addresses and explores consent laws for teens in situations where they are applicable in the real and digital world. It reviews content that requires sensitivity, maturity, and respectful conversation. This content may be triggering to some, so discretion is advised. Topics covered in this lesson are exploitation, sexual consent laws and laws regarding sexual assault.
In this assignment, you will review applicable Canadian laws regarding consent in the online realm and otherwise. A film is provided for viewing that discusses sexting and image sharing among adolescents. You will be asked to respond critically and thoughtfully to a selection of discussion questions provided in response to the film and the readings.
