How should contemporary society respond to the legacies of historical globalization?
Unresolved land claims are an issue across Canada. From the perspective of First Nations people who live in areas where no
treaties have been signed, this legacy of imperialism is an example of how their right to their historic lands has been ignored by the government for centuries.
For people in communities where these disputes occur, the issues can cause disruptions to their daily lives. For all Canadians, land claims issues present a challenge.
The following assignment is modelled on the third writing assignment you will complete as part of the Social 30-2 Provincial Diploma Exam. This activity allows you to analyze several perspectives and show your understanding of the legacies of imperialism.
Your newspaper has interviewed three people at random and asked them to respond to the following question:
How should the Canadian government respond to First Nations land claims issues?
