  • A hazard is something that can cause harm, for example, working on a ladder is hazardous.
  • Risk is the chance of that hazard actually causing someone harm.
  • Review Lesson One for more information.
  • Hazard identification, assessment and control can help prevent injuries.
  • The two types of hazards are: health hazards or safety hazards.
  • Physical, Biological, Chemical, Ergonomic, and Psychological.
  • Temperature extremes — Working in cold or hot conditions can lead to freezing/loss of heat or burning/too much heat.
