Writing
The Assignment
Step 1: Complete the 4.2 Shooting Script Planning Notes. Email it to your lead teacher it for feedback or ask a friend or family member to review it with you.
Step 2: Select the scene that you plan to script. Write your shooting script.
Your script should incorporate the following:
- the dialogue and stage directions that the actors would follow to perform on the show. You do not have to include every line of dialogue from the scene in your script—choose only those pieces of dialogue which move the scene forward and which connect to the "appeal" of the audience.
- camera angles, music, lighting, and costume details for the director, cameramen, costume designer, and so on.
- at least two (2) commercial breaks, where you will advertise products for your target audience throughout the TV show. Your commercials do not need to include dialogue or camera angles; explain the product and why it's appealing to your chosen audience.
Step 3: Reread your script for grammar and spelling and flow. Revise and edit your script.
Step 4: Submit your shooting script for assessment.
Include recommendations about specific actors and actresses you would like to see cast for each of the characters and explain why the network should pursue them for the roles.
- Name your script Lastname, FirstnameELA101_4.2ShootingScript.
