Key Ideas

  • A transversal is a line that crosses two other lines.
  • For there to be certain special relationships between angles, the lines crossed by a transversal must be parallel.
  • Angles that are vertically opposite, corresponding, alternate interior, or alternate exterior will have the same measure.
  • The sum of complementary angles is 90°.
  • The sum of supplementary angles is 180°.
  • The sum of the interior angle measures in a triangle is 180°.
